Introduction

Bureau of Police Research and Development organised a National-Level Web Design Competition where we have to redesign their outdated website (bprd.nic.in) using modern techniques and user research.

Problems

These are the following problems which were there in the old outdated website:

  • The old landing page is outdated.

It has not gone through a redesign for many years.

  • Too much information on a single page

There is too much content just thrown away at users on the homepage which is generally a not good user experience.

  • The existing website visits metrics can be improved

We want to drive more visitors to the website so that more and more people should become aware of the developments happening in this sector in India.

Goals

  • A simple and minimal website design for a good user experience.

  • Increase visitors to the website for a greater cause.

  • The website should be accessible to all people regardless of any disabilities.

Outcomes

  • We redesigned the landing page to be modern, simple, and minimalistic, greatly enhancing user experience.

  • By streamlining content, we presented information in a more organized and user-friendly manner.

  • Improved design and usability contributed to increased website visits, raising public awareness of the bureau's work.

  • The new design ensured accessibility for all users, adhering to inclusive web design standards.

Conclusion

  • The redesign addressed the outdated look, content overload, and low visitor metrics effectively.

  • Our solution not only met the project goals but also stood out in a competitive field.

  • Winning the design competition among 50 teams and receiving a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 highlighted the success and impact of our approach.
